Just back from New York, visiting my in-laws. I took the boys to a Yankee game: the last time for me in the old stadium. Of course, I’m old enough to remember the real Yankee Stadium, with the obstructed views. In the early seventies, I went there with my Cub Scout pack on bat day, back when they gave you a real Louisville Slugger! This was before the DH rule and I remember being mocked horribly when I got a pitcher’s bat (Mel Stottlemyre). It would probably be worth a fortune now.
Reread A Thing for Redheads when I got back, and didn’t hate it. I’ll start revisions once the kids are back in school.
Nice reactions from old Stony Brook friends to the student films posted below. There’s talk of showing them on campus later this year. I’ll let everyone know if it comes about.
My cousin Judy Vogelsang just posted clips from her new documentary Humble Beauty on YouTube. Check them out: Humble Productions. It’s about skid row artists in Los Angeles. I’m strongly involved with arts education and arts integration in Maryland, so I am particularly interested in Judy’s film. I’d love to see something like this program in Baltimore.
