James Joyce

The response to the Oscar Wilde scene was so positive, we’ve decided to put the James Joyce scene up too: I thought that I was past this show, but became very nostalgic while re-editing the material. From 2003 through 2006, we were mounting a production of the show every year. It was a close-knit group,

Facebook

Well, it’s official: I’m old. Katrina Ferguson, who played Charlotte in Engaging Shaw, provoked me to join Facebook. Now I am overwhelmed with answering and making friend requests, updating my status and the status of my friends with inane non sequiturs, and giving/receiving gifts like ugly dolls and unhatched eggs. It is insane, pointless, and

Irish Authors scene

Martin Blanco and I–with the permission of the cast–have decided to put a few scenes from Irish Authors Held Hostage on the web, to interest potential investors/producers. Oscar Wilde is the first:

Back from vacation

Just back from New York, visiting my in-laws. I took the boys to a Yankee game: the last time for me in the old stadium. Of course, I’m old enough to remember the real Yankee Stadium, with the obstructed views. In the early seventies, I went there with my Cub Scout pack on bat day,

Last student film!

Glad to be done with this, finally. Though this is the last of the student films I’m posting, it was actually the first one I ever made. Another student had just spent a ton of money to make a full-color, sound synched film called No Girls Allowed, which was to be entered in the Suffolk

Mountain Playhouse interview on YouTube

Mountain Playhouse has posted the Stonewall’s Bust interview of me by Mary Louise Stoughton on YouTube. The audio is a little better, but still too low. I’ll try to speak up next time.

Second student movie

This was the second student film I made at Stony Brook, again in the style of Buster Keaton. (I’m a little obsessive.) The title is Girls Stink, and Martha Banta plays opposite me. She and I worked together a lot in college–or at least she humored my idiotic ideas. Martha went on to be assistant

A General Mess

I recently reconnected with an old college friend of mine named David Reichhold, who asked for a copy of a student film we both worked on in 1986-1987. So I dug it up, re-edited some of it, and put it on YouTube, so David can see it and torture his wife and children with it.

Matchmaker’s Guide clip

My personal manager (alias my brother) is making more demands of me. He insisted I get a YouTube page. Here’s the first video: a clip from The Matchmaker’s Guide to Controlling the Elements, which we filmed last year.

Stonewall’s Bust closes

Just back from Pennsylvania, where my family and I saw the final evening performance of Stonewall’s Bust.  As always, the people at Mountain Playhouse couldn’t be nicer.  The cast put on a great show, and the audience were very responsive.  Here are a couple of pictures:       The cast: Susan Jacks, Nick
